006 – Managing Stress

Wednesday, 21st September (4pm-7pm)

Overview:
Most of us experience stress in one way or another in our everyday life. But very few truly understand the nature and effects of stress on our body. Some may not even appreciate the consequences of stress on our health, personal life and work. Many are not aware that they can actually learn to deal with stress, enhance their coping skills and prevent mental health problems.

This workshop is based on mhGAP-HIG which is a clinical guide prepared by the World Health Organization. The aim is to help train non-specialists in low- and middle-income countries to deal with common mental health problems including stress. It will help you explore possible stressors; understand how worrying affects you; how do you deal with your worries; Identify sources of comfort, strength and energy? How to seek help and advice?

This workshop will be particularly helpful for those who deal with high levels of stressful situations either at work/academics or in personal lives. This will also be very useful for those who care for or wish to support others who suffer from mental health problems.
